The new Japanese Pokémon card set Abyss Eye officially releases later this month and is already becoming one of the most talked-about Pokémon TCG expansions of 2026.

The set features the return of Mega Evolution Pokémon alongside a darker Ghost and Dark-type theme that has caught the attention of both Pokémon card collectors and competitive players. Early reveals from Abyss Eye include Mega Darkrai ex and the newly revealed Mega Chandelure ex, both of which are expected to become some of the biggest chase cards in the set.
Additional Pokémon revealed so far include:
- Litwick
- Lampent
- Banette
- Spiritomb
- Marshadow
- Dhelmise
- Sinistcha
One of the biggest reasons for the growing hype around Abyss Eye is its connection to the upcoming English Pokémon TCG expansion Pitch Black. Current information suggests Abyss Eye will act as another near 1-for-1 Japanese counterpart set, meaning many of the cards revealed in Japan are expected to appear in English later this year.
The darker artwork style, Ghost-type Pokémon lineup, and return of Mega Evolutions are helping Abyss Eye stand out from other recent Scarlet & Violet era Pokémon sets. Fans are still waiting for additional reveals, including possible Special Art Rare Pokémon cards, Full Art Trainers, and more Mega Evolution cards.
As more cards continue to be revealed before launch, Abyss Eye is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated Japanese Pokémon card releases of the year for fans of modern Pokémon TCG products.
